The former residential palace of the Counts of Montfort-Tettnang is one
of the most beautiful palaces in the region of Upper Swabia. It bears
witness to the demanding claim the Counts of Montfort place on their
stately residence in the early 18th century. Whether it was Joseph
Anton Feuchtmayer for the stuccowork or the painter Angelika Kauffmann
for family portraits - only the best artists were engaged for the
palace appointments.
The Count's apartments, the Palace Chapel
(Schlosskapelle), the Hall of Bacchus (Bacchussaal) and the Sovereign's
Chamber (Fürstenzimmer) with the adjoining Goliard's Cabinet
(Vagantenkabinett) still impart a vivid picture of the royal luxury of
that age today.
In addition to the regularly scheduled guided
tours through the palace rooms, visitors can also take part in special
guided tours. In these members of the count's family and their
employees report on life at the court of the Counts of Montfort and
make the 18th century come alive again.
